Global energy markets reacted bullishly to the latest diplomatic signals from the Middle East on Thursday. Brent crude futures retreated, slipping under the $80 mark, after Iranian officials indicated that recent discussions with the United States had yielded constructive results.

UK Currency Under Pressure

While commodities found stability in geopolitical developments, the British pound Sterling struggled to maintain momentum. The currency drifted toward its lowest valuation of the year, shedding roughly 0.35% to trade near 1.3191 against the dollar.

Investor attention in London remained fixated on the political timeline of Prime Minister Keir Starmer. Market participants are currently bracing for a potential transition of power, with expectations rising that Andy Burnham is being prepared to take the reins.
