UK Inflation Holds Steady as Food Cost Growth Eases

Consumer price inflation remained unchanged last month as a surge in fuel costs was balanced by a moderation in food prices, official figures show.

Latest data from the Office for National Statistics (ONS) reveals that the UK’s headline inflation rate remained static in the last reporting period. The stability comes despite a significant jump in costs at the petrol pump, which threatened to push the figure higher.

Food and Fuel Dynamics

The upward pressure from motor fuel was effectively counterbalanced by the grocery sector. Consumers saw price increases for meat, dairy, and vegetables begin to lose momentum, providing enough downward drag to keep the overall inflation rate flat.
