On his first full day as Prime Minister, Andy Burnham has confirmed that Value Added Tax (VAT) on residential electricity will be reduced starting this October. The move is designed to provide financial relief to families amid ongoing economic pressure.
Annual Savings for Consumers
Officials estimate that the tax cut will lower the typical annual energy bill by around £45. By reducing the levy on household electricity, the government aims to put money back into the pockets of consumers just as the colder months approach.
